A Journey Through the Modes — Part I
Join me for a journey through all seven main modes and the different musical character each one brings to the harp. We’ll look at how modes relate to their parent major scale, hear short examples of each mode, and practice finding them on the harp.
The workshop gives special attention to Dorian and Lydian. We build a Dorian groove for improvising, explore Lydian’s open, uplifting color, and work with the character notes and chords that help each mode speak clearly.
The workshop charts and worksheets are available below, so you can keep the maps in front of you while you play.
